Munich Re, a leading global reinsurer, has appointed Klaus Wilkens (pictured) as the new President and CEO for Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada and its affiliate agency, Temple Insurance Company.
Wilkens brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having built a distinguished career in the insurance and reinsurance sector since joining Munich Re in 1995. His journey within the company commenced in the casualty facultative underwriting department.
Over the years, Wilkens has held various key positions within Munich Re, showcasing his talent and expertise on a global scale. Notably, he spent a significant period with Munich Re of Africa, commencing in 2000, before returning to Munich to take on the role of Senior Underwriter. In this capacity, he specialized in tailoring reinsurance solutions to meet the unique needs of clients.
In 2008, Wilkens further elevated his career within Munich Re, assuming the position of Client Management Executive. Here, he led the client management team responsible for overseeing non-life reinsurance business across several pivotal markets, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the Nordic countries.
As he steps into his new role, Wilkens will be tasked with overseeing the non-life business operations of Munich Reinsurance Company in Canada. This appointment comes at a crucial time for the Canadian reinsurance and insurance market, which faces various challenges and opportunities.
