Aspen Insurance Group has announced the promotion of G. Robert Walters to Senior Vice President and Head of Property Treaty, effective October 1. Walters, who will continue to be based in the company’s Rocky Hill, Connecticut office, will report directly to Scott Kreuzer, Senior Managing Director at Aspen Re America.
Commenting on the promotion, Kreuzer said, “Rob’s appointment is key to driving the strategic direction of our U.S. property reinsurance portfolio alongside myself and Phil Hough. Our U.S. reinsurance team is entering an exciting phase as we expand and enhance our efforts to meet our clients’ evolving needs.”
Walters brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new role, having joined Aspen Re America in 2015 as vice president of property treaty. Before Aspen, he held a variety of senior positions, including at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he was team leader for the Eastern Zone and regional practice group leader for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food sectors.
His career also includes leadership roles at Chubb and XL Reinsurance, with a focus on property facultative and pharmaceutical risks. Walters holds an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.
This promotion follows a broader restructuring of Aspen’s leadership team earlier this year. In July, Aspen announced several key leadership changes, effective August 1, aimed at strengthening its executive roles.
Among the key appointments, Christian Dunleavy was named group president and will also serve as chief executive officer of Aspen Bermuda. Dunleavy reports to executive chairman and group CEO Mark Cloutier and is responsible for overseeing Aspen’s underwriting strategy, claims management, and business development initiatives.
Aspen’s leadership team reshuffle and Walters’ promotion reflect the company’s efforts to align its leadership structure with its evolving business priorities.
