Howden Re has announced the appointment of Thomas Kroely as managing director for its operations in Continental Europe.
In this role, Kroely will spearhead Howden Re’s European expansion strategy, with plans to build a local team once his existing contractual obligations conclude in 2025.
Kroely brings extensive experience in the reinsurance industry to his new position. Most recently, he served as client reinsurance director at Aon in Paris, a role he held from April 2022 to November 2024. Prior to that, he spent more than 13 years at Willis Re, where he held several leadership positions, including head of France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. His career also includes roles in reinsurance brokerage, actuarial services, and financial analysis with companies such as Brit Insurance and Generali France. Kroely holds an actuarial degree from the Institut de Science Financière et d’Assurances (ISFA).
Tobias Andersson, head of Continental Europe for Howden Re International, welcomed Kroely to the leadership team, highlighting the company’s entrepreneurial approach to delivering tailored client solutions. He expressed confidence in Kroely’s ability to drive growth and innovation across the region.
The announcement follows Howden Re’s recent appointment of Grange Turner as managing director of international casualty and head of international motor reinsurance. Turner will focus on the company’s global international region, with a particular emphasis on the UK and Nordic markets.
These strategic appointments underline Howden Re’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team and enhancing its global capabilities.
