Allianz Commercial has named Jenna Contreras as the portfolio solutions leader for wholesale and managing general agents (MGA)/programs, a newly created role aimed at expanding the company’s footprint in these distribution channels across North America. Contreras will report to Paul McGuigan, regional head of strategic relationships.
Based in Chicago, Contreras will be responsible for managing key strategic broker relationships across the United States and Canada within the wholesale and MGA/programs sector. She brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as national market relations manager at Risk Placement Services, the wholesale division of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Her prior experience also includes business development positions at Prime Insurance Company and SIS Wholesale Insurance Services.
Beyond her professional expertise, Contreras actively contributes to industry development, serving as a board member for Young Risk Professionals and RISE, organizations dedicated to supporting young professionals entering the insurance field.
Contreras’ appointment comes on the heels of another key leadership move at Allianz Commercial, with Aymeric Martin recently named chief risk and resilience officer of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS SE), effective April 1.
The company’s enhanced focus on MGAs and program business aligns with broader market trends. In 2023, the US MGA market recorded over $102 billion in direct premiums written, reflecting a 13% year-over-year growth—surpassing the 10% expansion of the overall property and casualty (P&C) insurance sector. MGAs accounted for approximately 9% of the total US P&C direct premiums, which reached $959 billion in 2023. The sector has nearly doubled in size since 2018, demonstrating its growing significance within the insurance industry.
A key area of expansion for Allianz Commercial is its inland marine programs, an area in which the company has developed a robust presence over the past 55 years. With more than 200 active programs, Allianz Commercial has achieved a global written premium of $1 billion, underscoring its commitment to growth and innovation in the sector.
With Contreras at the helm of its portfolio solutions strategy, Allianz Commercial is poised to further strengthen its relationships with brokers and MGAs, reinforcing its position as a leader in the evolving insurance marketplace.
