Aventum Appoints Jonathan Butcher As Non-Executive Chairman

Aventum has announced the appointment of Jonathan Butcher as its new non-executive chairman. Bringing over 35 years of experience in the Lloyd’s and London insurance markets, Butcher is set to play a pivotal role in the strategic growth of the international (re)insurance group.

Butcher’s extensive career includes 14 years at Novae Syndicates, where he served as CEO and underwriting director before the company’s US$600+ million acquisition by AXIS in 2017. Prior to this, he spent 13 years at Lloyd’s and 11 years at Sturge Group PLC, holding senior underwriting roles across multiple classes, with a focus on property and casualty insurance.

In addition to his executive career, Butcher has been an active industry leader. He joined the board of the Lloyd’s Market Association in 2015 and has served as a non-executive director at Rokstone since 2022, where he played a key role in enhancing management and operational efficiency to support the company’s expansion.

Aventum is a leading global independent specialty insurance group, managing over US$1.86 billion in gross written premiums annually across 17 international offices. The group provides specialist and niche solutions across all lines of property and casualty (re)insurance through its well-established international broking arm, Consilium, and its global MGA operation, Rokstone.

In his new role, Butcher will work closely with the Board and leadership team to drive Aventum’s growth strategy and strengthen its market position worldwide.
