Commercial Express, a UK-based managing general agent (MGA), has strengthened its capacity panel through new long-term partnerships with AXA and Carbon Underwriting, enhancing its commercial and residential property offerings.
AXA has joined the panel to provide additional capacity for Commercial Express’s commercial property owners scheme, supporting the MGA’s growth and diversification in the commercial property market. Joel Markham, director of schemes and delegated authorities at AXA UK, emphasized that the partnership would leverage AXA’s underwriting expertise alongside Commercial Express’s distribution capabilities, aligning both firms for long-term success.
In the residential property space, Carbon Underwriting has also come on board, integrating its proprietary data platform, Graphene, with Commercial Express’s underwriting model. This collaboration is aimed at improving decision-making flexibility and operational efficiency, providing more tailored solutions for residential property owners. Claire Turner, property underwriter at Carbon, highlighted that this integration would offer enhanced data insights, benefiting both brokers and clients.
Duncan Pritchard, managing director at Commercial Express, described the addition of AXA and Carbon as a strong endorsement of the MGA’s scheme management and underwriting approach. He noted that these partnerships would significantly contribute to the firm’s long-term market success.
This latest expansion follows the inclusion of Irwell Insurance Company Limited to the Commercial Express panel in January. This earlier partnership, focused on liability schemes, aims to broaden the MGA’s coverage options, further strengthening its position in the commercial liability sector.
These moves reflect a broader industry trend, as MGAs increasingly prioritize securing reliable, long-term capacity to enhance their product offerings and improve underwriting performance in a competitive market.
