Blink Parametric, the B2B SaaS arm of CPPGroup Plc, has appointed Brian Barter as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately. Barter takes the helm as the company accelerates its strategy to grow its global presence as a leading parametric platform for insurers and financial services providers.
Barter brings extensive leadership experience to the role, having held senior positions at Accenture and Bank of Ireland. Most recently, he served as managing director at BoatyardX, a technology venture incubated by Shipyard Technology Ventures. Under his leadership, BoatyardX scaled from inception to acquisition by Ergo in 2022, with Barter overseeing the successful integration into the Ergo Group.
He succeeds Sid Mouncey, who will remain with the company as chief commercial officer. In this role, Mouncey will continue to drive Blink’s commercial growth and distribution strategy, focusing on delivering value-driven innovation to partners.
The leadership change follows a series of significant milestones for the company. In 2021, co-founders Paul Prendergast (CEO) and Peter Bermingham (CTO) exited the business, marking a new chapter in Blink’s evolution.
Established in 2016 as Blink Innovation, the company was acquired by CPPGroup in 2017 for €1 million. Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, Blink expanded its regional footprint with the opening of a new EU headquarters in Cork in 2023 and aims to double its local workforce by the end of 2025.
Blink Parametric has also made notable strides in expanding its global partnership network. In November, it teamed up with Protect Group to launch real-time parametric travel protection services via Protect Marketplace. Additionally, in December, Blink introduced its FlyEasy flight disruption assistance product in partnership with Zurich Indonesia, enhancing its presence across the Asia-Pacific region.
