MS Amlin, the Lloyd’s global re/insurer, has appointed Christiern Dart as its next chief executive officer, effective January 2026, pending regulatory approval.
Dart joins from Brit, where he most recently served as group chief underwriting officer. With more than three decades of experience in the international re/insurance industry, Dart brings deep expertise and leadership to the role. During his 17-year tenure at Brit, he spent five years as group CUO, overseeing an underwriting capacity of over £2 billion across a diverse multi-line portfolio.
He began his career at CNA Re in 1994 before moving on to underwriting positions at Liberty Syndicates. At Brit, he initially worked on the North American property and casualty portfolio, later rising to become deputy active underwriter and then active underwriter for Syndicates 2987 and 2988.
Dart will succeed Andrew Carrier, who will step down as CEO after three years at the helm. Carrier, who joined MS Amlin in 2020 as chief underwriting officer before being named CEO, will transition to a new role as executive officer within the wider Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) group.
Under Carrier’s leadership, MS Amlin underwent a significant transformation and delivered its strongest financial results in over a decade in 2023, maintaining robust performance into 2024. He will remain with the company through the end of the year to support a smooth handover.
