Markel And Gallagher Strengthen Senior Expertise With Key Appointments

Markel Insurance and Gallagher have announced senior appointments aimed at reinforcing risk governance and expanding transactional risk capabilities amid evolving market conditions.

Markel promotes Wildey to chief risk officer

Markel Insurance, the insurance operations of Markel Group, has promoted Colin Wildey to the role of chief risk officer for Markel International, subject to regulatory approval. Wildey has served as head of risk for Markel International since 2022.

In his new position, he will focus on further embedding risk considerations into decision-making across the international business.

Prior to joining Markel, Wildey held the roles of UK chief risk officer and group head of risk and capital at Fidelis Insurance, where he was responsible for overseeing the group’s risk framework across multiple entities.

Gallagher expands transactional risk capabilities with Carvalho Assuncao hire

Gallagher has appointed Adriana Carvalho Assuncao as a director within its private equity and M&A practice, strengthening its tax and transactional risk expertise across Europe.

She joins the UK-based team from KPMG, where she spent more than a decade advising multinational organisations on cross-border tax matters. Carvalho Assuncao has been part of KPMG’s US international tax practice in London for over six years, most recently serving as a manager specialising in M&A transactions, corporate reorganisations and international tax structuring for European multinationals and US-based corporates.
