UK Insurance Firms Strengthen Leadership With Key Senior Appointments

The UK insurance sector has announced a wave of senior appointments, with firms strengthening leadership teams and sharpening their market focus. Katie King has joined Waggel as chief marketing officer, Martin Johnson has been named head of partnerships at Qlaims Limited, Henry Tinworth has taken on a senior property and casualty underwriting role at Arch Insurance UK Regional Division, and Camilla Roughan has been appointed to a senior energy underwriting position at Markel International.

Waggel appoints first CMO

Waggel has named Katie King as its inaugural chief marketing officer, marking a key step in the company’s growth strategy under CEO Henri Dowling.

King joins from Capital One UK, where she served as UK marketing director. She previously held senior marketing roles at Australian fintech firms OnDeck and Athena Home Loans. She began her career through Capital One’s graduate programme and holds a first-class degree in Business Management from the University of Nottingham.

Qlaims appointed head of partnerships

Qlaims Limited has appointed Martin Johnson as head of partnerships, a newly created role aimed at strengthening relationships with brokers and managing general agents (MGAs).

Johnson brings 14 years of experience from Arc Legal Assistance, where he held a senior commercial role. He will report directly to CEO Liz Latter.

Arch Insurance hires senior underwriter

Arch Insurance UK Regional Division has appointed Henry Tinworth as senior property and casualty underwriter, with immediate effect. Based in Leeds, he will focus on driving new business growth across the north of England.

Tinworth joins from DUAL, where he most recently served as senior underwriter, and previously worked as a development underwriter at Hiscox. He has more than a decade of experience in the UK insurance market and will report to Leeds branch manager Martin Cleary.

Markel International bolsters energy team

Markel International has appointed Camilla Roughan as senior underwriter – energy, based in London.

In her new role, Roughan will oversee underwriting for the company’s upstream and midstream energy portfolio, while enhancing underwriting discipline and strengthening broker and client relationships. She will also contribute to improving submission processes and responsiveness within the energy team, enabling faster and more informed guidance on coverage and appetite.

Roughan brings over 20 years of experience in international energy programmes, offshore construction, and upstream and midstream insurance. Most recently, she was a senior broker and account executive at Price Forbes, and has previously held senior positions at K.M. Dastur Limited, Lockton Companies International, and Wellington Underwriting/Catlin UK.
