This week’s insurance industry appointments highlight JMG Group’s efforts to expand its risk management services and Generali’s internal leadership promotion, reinforcing their focus on operational growth and corporate governance.
JMG Group Appoints Regional Managing Director for Risk Management
JMG Group has appointed Carl Currie as regional managing director of its risk management proposition. Currie is based at the group’s Lighthouse business in Leeds.
The appointment supports JMG Group’s strategy to bring its existing risk management businesses together under a unified proposition. The initiative aims to expand the availability of health and safety, human resources (HR), and employment law services as the group continues to pursue organic growth and acquisitions.
Currie brings 20 years of experience in business operations and risk management. At his previous company, Stallard Kane, he joined as its fifth employee and helped grow the business to more than 100 employees. He also holds a coaching qualification.
In his new role, Currie will work alongside Lighthouse managing director Mary-ann Rorks-Barnard and commercial director Gwyn Evans.
The move reflects a broader trend among insurance broker groups to combine traditional insurance offerings with additional services, including workplace health and safety, HR, and employment law support. For small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) clients, these services can provide additional value beyond insurance coverage.
By consolidating its risk management businesses under a single proposition, JMG Group aims to make these services more accessible across its network. The strategy also highlights the growing importance of non-insurance services in helping independent brokers strengthen their competitive position.
