Appointments across the UK insurance market highlight developments in industry fundraising, regional commercial underwriting, London specialty lines and property direct and facultative (D&F) business.

IUAD Appoints James Boyce to Its Board

Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) has appointed James Boyce, CEO of global specialties at Marsh, to its board as the industry-backed campaign continues working towards its 2030 fundraising target of £20 million for Alzheimer’s Society.

The campaign achieved its initial £10 million fundraising milestone earlier this year and is now moving into its second phase of growth ahead of its tenth anniversary in 2027.

According to Alzheimer’s Society, nearly half of the more than 300,000 people employed in the UK insurance sector will be affected by dementia during their lifetime, either personally or through someone close to them.

In his new position, Boyce will help strengthen IUAD’s engagement across the insurance and reinsurance sectors while identifying additional fundraising opportunities. A key priority will be expanding the campaign’s presence and involvement within the reinsurance market.

Gladding brings nearly 40 years of underwriting experience to the position. He joined Arch in 2022 as a senior underwriter within the company’s St Albans team.

Before joining Arch, he held underwriting positions at Covéa Insurance, Towergate, Doulton Underwriting Agency and RSA.

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Daisy Altwegg and promoted Iwan Jenkins to leadership positions within its London credit, political risk and investment (CPRI) team. Both will report to James Wilson, departmental head of special risks.

Altwegg joins TMK from Everest Insurance, where she served as head of credit and political risk for Europe. She brings more than 15 years of industry experience, having previously worked at SCOR, Aspen Insurance and Hiscox. Her expertise includes asset-backed finance.

Jenkins, who joined TMK in September 2025, has taken on an expanded leadership role following what the company describes as an exceptional first year with the business.

These appointments follow George Bibby’s arrival in August 2026 and form part of TMK’s wider strategy to strengthen its special risks capabilities. The business also covers political violence and terrorism, trade disruption insurance and transactional liability.

Liberty Specialty Markets Appoints Richard Richards as Head of Property D&F

Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed Richard Richards as head of property direct and facultative (D&F), based in London. He will report to Kevin Demmon, divisional director of property for the UK and MENA.

Richards brings more than 20 years of experience in property D&F underwriting, including ten years as a senior class underwriter at Chaucer Syndicates. He has also held previous positions at Allianz and Zurich.

His appointment follows Liberty’s establishment of the property divisional director position in March 2026, when Kevin Demmon joined to oversee the UK commercial and international D&F portfolios.
