AIG To Acquire Everest Group’s Chile Insurance Business

Global insurance company AIG has agreed to acquire Everest Group’s Chilean insurance subsidiary, following the successful completion of its acquisition of Everest’s Colombian insurance business. The move is part of AIG’s strategy to strengthen its commercial insurance operations and expand its presence across Latin America.

The proposed acquisition includes Everest Compañía de Seguros Generales Chile S.A., which provides insurance solutions to corporate and upper-middle-market clients. Its portfolio covers several business sectors, including property, energy, marine, financial lines and casualty insurance. Following completion, AIG subsidiaries will take over the company’s licensed operations, employees and existing insurance portfolio.

The two acquisitions represent another milestone in AIG’s regional expansion strategy. Having maintained operations across Latin America for decades, AIG considers the region an important growth market. Increasing demand for commercial insurance, supported by investment in infrastructure, energy, logistics and manufacturing, continues to create opportunities for the industry.

AIG anticipates completing the Chilean acquisition in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing requirements. Both companies plan to coordinate throughout the transition period to help ensure minimal disruption for employees, customers and broker partners.

The planned Chilean acquisition follows AIG’s completed purchase of Everest’s Colombian insurance operation. Together, these transactions are expected to strengthen AIG’s position in two important Latin American corporate insurance markets.
