Matt Grimwade, former head of EMEA business development at Aon, has joined Willis Towers Watson (WTW) as its new client relationship director for large and complex risks in its global markets direct & facultative (D&F) line of business.
Grimwade brings to WTW over 25 years of industry experience. In his new role, he will be responsible for complex property placements for clients within the brokerage’s global markets D&F line of business, as well as product development and new business growth. He will also provide clients with access to the global marketplace to develop market-leading risk solutions.
Grimwade said he was drawn to WTW because of how its teams work collaboratively worldwide, which he described as a real differentiator. He said: “This enables us to drive the best solutions for our clients by focusing on their needs without distraction.”
Grimwade will report to Garret Gaughan, head of WTW’s global markets D&F.
Commenting on the new hire, Gaughan said: “We are delighted to welcome Matt to the WTW team. He brings over 25 years of extensive industry experience, and his appointment coincides with the ongoing expansion of our global P&C business. Matt is well known to clients as well as markets.”
The recent appointment demonstrates the global brokerage’s commitment to growing by providing a solution-oriented, innovative approach for its clients. It follows WTW’s hiring of digital leader Lou Smith’s entrance to its Insurance Consulting and Technology business to lead its commercial lines data strategy and accelerate its digital trading capability.
