QBE has declared openly the appointment of Chris Killourhy as managing director of QBE Re. He will be vacating his current role as chief financial officer of QBE International on Sept. 1.
A fellow of the UK Faculty & Institute of Actuaries, Killourhy boasts significant experience working for worldwide (re)insurance and consulting companies around the world. He has held various positions within QBE since joining in 2015, including chief actuarial officer and chief financial officer at QBE’s Australia Pacific region. He became the chief financial officer of QBE International in 2020.
“It is such a privilege to take on the leadership of QBE Re at this sensational time,” Killourhy said. “With a strong leadership team in place and deep technical expertise throughout the institution, the franchise is well placed to build on impressive growth over the first half of the year and support QBE in its commitment to being a consistent and innovative risk partner.”
“We put in place an enterprising set of plans for QBE Re earlier this year and I am delighted to have someone of Chris’s caliber to drive their delivery,” said John Harris, CEO of QBE International. “My thanks to Peter Wilkins, who took the reins on an interim basis, and I have every confidence that resuming his role as chief underwriting officer supporting Chris will contribute to a very solid, committed, and creative senior administration team.”
QBE will make a separate statement about recruitment for the chief financial officer at a later date.
