The AdA Syndicate is set to become a full Lloyd’s syndicate in 2026, marking a significant step in its strategic expansion into marine and specialty lines. The move builds on its underwriting activities for the 2024 and 2025 years of account, which were conducted under Probitas Syndicate 1492.
Probitas Managing Agency announced the transition following in-principle approval from Lloyd’s. The AdA Syndicate will continue to be managed by Probitas, with Natasha Jodrell, managing director of AdA Underwriters, and James Grainger, chief underwriting officer and active underwriter, remaining at the helm.
Grainger acknowledged the milestone as a pivotal step towards establishing AdA as an independent Lloyd’s business. “The team deserves much credit for their dedication and hard work in reaching this next stage,” he said.
Antony Dodson, chief underwriting officer and active underwriter at Probitas, noted that the organisation will maintain close collaboration with the AdA team and Lloyd’s as the syndicate enters the “Making It Happen” phase of development.
Jodrell also highlighted the role of the broader Probitas group and external stakeholders in supporting the transition, including capital providers, reinsurers, consortium partners, and Howden Re, which advised throughout the process.
Currently operating as a Special Purpose Arrangement (SPA), the AdA Syndicate will shift to full syndicate status for the 2026 year of account.
Probitas Syndicate 1492, under which AdA has been writing business, covers a diverse portfolio spanning UK and international property, casualty, financial lines, construction, and cyber. Probitas maintains offices in London, Manchester, Mexico, Brussels, Sydney, and Toronto.
