Alliant Insurance Services has appointed Tara Lagu as Executive Vice President and Medical Director for its Employee Benefits Group’s value-based healthcare solutions team.
In her new role, Lagu will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing cost efficiency and quality outcomes for clients. The value-based healthcare solutions team works closely with accountable care organizations, Medicare Advantage plans, health systems, and provider practices to optimize performance under risk-based contracts.
Lagu brings a wealth of experience to Alliant. Before joining the company, she served as Director and Professor at the Center for Health Services and Outcomes Research within Northwestern University’s Institute for Public Health and Medicine. Additionally, she has over two decades of experience as a practicing hospitalist and was a clinical lead for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) quality metrics. Her extensive research on risk-based government contracts positions her to collaborate effectively with executive and clinical leadership, driving performance improvements across diverse programs and clinical settings.
Based in Maine, Lagu is expected to strengthen her team’s ability to deliver value-based solutions tailored to the healthcare industry’s evolving needs. Her appointment underscores Alliant’s commitment to innovation and leadership in healthcare solutions.
This announcement follows Alliant’s recent strategic acquisitions. In June, the company acquired Florida-based Health Market Solutions, a health insurance agency specializing in direct-to-consumer Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans. Alliant also acquired Union First, a benefits consulting and third-party administration firm, further broadening its capabilities.
Additionally, Alliant has made notable appointments within its mergers and acquisitions specialty practice. In August, Mark Rusas joined as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Alliant Specialty, and Peter Miraglia was named Executive Vice President at Alliant M&A, both based in New York. These moves reflect Alliant’s ongoing efforts to expand its expertise and service offerings across various sectors.
