A series of senior leadership appointments has been announced this week across the global insurance sector.
Allianz aligns mobility and claims operations under new leadership
Allianz has consolidated its mobility and repair services under the leadership of Dirk Vogler (pictured), who will assume the newly created role of chief mobility officer and board member of Allianz Partners, alongside becoming CEO of Solvd, effective January 2026.
Vogler moves from Allianz Commercial, where he held board of management roles and led regional operating model transformation initiatives. The move brings Solvd, Allianz’s global claims and repair specialist, into closer alignment with Allianz Partners’ mobility capabilities, supporting the group’s “Connected Platforms” strategy, which integrates insurance expertise with AI-driven and digital services.
Chubb appoints international head of commercial insurance and specialty
Chubb has named John DePeters as executive vice president and head of commercial insurance and specialty for Chubb Overseas General Insurance (COG), effective January 1, 2026. Based in London, DePeters will be responsible for driving growth and performance across Chubb’s global middle-market, small commercial and specialty portfolios.
His remit will include leveraging package and multi-line underwriting, portfolio management, analytics and technology to support expansion and profitability across international markets.
BMS creates commercial D&O director role
BMS has appointed Charlie Emkes as director of commercial directors’ and officers’ (D&O) solutions, effective January 2026. Based in London, Emkes will report to Tom Spraggs, director and head of financial institutions – UK retail.
The newly created role will focus on developing BMS’s commercial D&O strategy and leading new business development in collaboration with teams across BMS and DR&P. Emkes joins from Lockton and brings more than 12 years of London Market experience, having previously held roles at Protean Risk and Gallagher.
Gallagher strengthens tax insurance capability within PE and M&A practice
Gallagher has appointed Tom Hughes as director of tax insurance within its EMEA Private Equity and M&A (PEMA) practice, joining the UK team on January 5, 2026.
Hughes joins from EY’s Corporate M&A tax group, where he advised on international tax and transaction services. A chartered accountant and tax specialist, he has extensive experience across due diligence, acquisitions and disposals, and tax structuring for private equity portfolios and mid-market clients.
