Allianz Commercial has announced the appointment of James Raven as regional head of liability for the UK, effective immediately.
In his new role, Raven will lead the large corporate liability division, overseeing the portfolio’s profitability, growth, and strategic direction. He succeeds Luke Baker, who earlier this year was promoted to director UK global and AGCS SE branch manager. Raven will continue to be based in London and report directly to Baker.
Raven joined Allianz Commercial in 2022 and brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience. He has previously held senior underwriting and leadership roles with several major insurers, with deep expertise in corporate casualty and complex liability risks across diverse sectors.
Allianz stated that Raven’s appointment underscores its commitment to strengthening UK liability operations and sustaining underwriting discipline amid a challenging claims environment. The company continues to pursue growth in the large corporate segment, where demand for bespoke liability solutions is rising, driven by evolving risks linked to supply chains, ESG considerations, and emerging technologies.
