Allianz UK has officially joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, strengthening its commitment to supporting individuals with non-visible disabilities across its workforce and customer base.
The globally recognised Sunflower symbol discreetly signals that someone may have a hidden disability and could benefit from additional support, patience, or understanding. By integrating the scheme into its operations, Allianz is reinforcing its focus on accessibility and inclusive service—particularly in areas such as claims handling and customer interaction.
This initiative is especially important for customers navigating complex insurance processes, where non-visible disabilities may impact communication, comprehension, or decision-making. Allianz’s adoption of the Sunflower scheme aims to ensure a more empathetic and accommodating experience for those affected.
To mark the launch of its membership, Allianz hosted a panel event in London exploring the impact of hidden disabilities on both employees and customers. The discussion also focused on building awareness and improving internal practices to foster a more inclusive environment.
The panel featured Serge Raffard, Managing Director of Personal Lines; Alison Rayner, Chief Compliance and Corporate Affairs Officer; Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower; Jon Reynolds, Senior Business Analyst and member of the Allianz Ability Network; and Funmi Oredein, Broker Agency Controller at Allianz Personal.
As part of the initiative’s rollout, Allianz has introduced staff training sessions delivered by the Sunflower team, aimed at helping employees recognise the symbol and respond appropriately. The company is also providing ongoing access to Sunflower resources to support continuous learning and inclusivity throughout the organisation.
