AM Specialty Insurance Group, a division of AM Holding Company, has announced the appointment of Stephen Mathews as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In his new role, Mathews will spearhead the strategic financial direction of AM Specialty and its subsidiaries, strengthening the group’s position within the specialty insurance and reinsurance markets.
Mathews brings more than 25 years of financial leadership experience to the role, including notable positions as an insurance CFO and investment banker. His career highlights include key roles at leading financial and insurance firms such as Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Willis, and Guy Carpenter. Mathews has a proven track record in insurance capital-raising, mergers and acquisitions, and executing complex financial strategies. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at PricewaterhouseCoopers, establishing a solid foundation in finance and accounting.
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Mathews emphasized his commitment to collaborating with the leadership team to drive growth and operational excellence across the group.
Renee Montgomery will continue in her role as CFO of AM Specialty Insurance Company (ASIC), where she will maintain her focus on managing ASIC’s financial operations. Mathews’ appointment as Group CFO is designed to complement Montgomery’s efforts, ensuring enhanced financial oversight across AM Holding Company and its broader portfolio of businesses.
