Amiga Specialty has announced the appointment of James Rasmussen as Managing Director of Management Liability for the UK & Europe, effective immediately. Based in London, Rasmussen will report directly to Group Managing Director and Founder, Adam Kembrooke.
In this newly created position, Rasmussen will be responsible for developing Amiga’s management liability product line, setting its strategic direction, and working closely with the company’s capacity partners to deliver tailored solutions for brokers.
This appointment marks a significant step in Amiga Specialty’s growth, following its successful launch in May, supported by investor B.P. Marsh.
Kembrooke emphasized Rasmussen’s strong market reputation and proven ability to build profitable portfolios, along with his deep relationships with both providers and brokers. These attributes are expected to play a crucial role in driving the company’s expansion and adding value to its carrier partners.
Before joining Amiga, Rasmussen served as Managing Director of Management Liability at Nexus Underwriting. He also founded the financial lines MGA, Plus Risk, in 2017. With a career that spans over two decades, Rasmussen has held senior underwriting and leadership roles at Chubb, Travelers, Marsh, and Willis, after beginning his insurance career in 1998.
Since its founding, Amiga Specialty has made several key hires to strengthen its financial lines and transactional risks offerings in both the UK and Hong Kong.
B.P. Marsh, a key investor in Amiga Specialty, has also recently acquired a 35% stake in Salus, a new UK-based insurance intermediary group focused on professional indemnity (PI) cover. This investment, valued up to £2 million through a mix of equity and loan facilities, supports B.P. Marsh’s strategy of expanding its portfolio in specialist insurance intermediaries.
