Arkel has strengthened its long-standing partnership with AmTrust by securing a three-year extension of A-rated capacity, increasing the limit to £120 million in gross written premium (GWP) for its non-standard household insurance portfolio.
The expanded agreement boosts Arkel’s total annual capacity to £65 million GWP and reinforces its panel of long-term capacity partners. It also marks a significant step forward in the specialist MGA’s long-term growth strategy.
Since its launch six years ago, Arkel has delivered consistent year-on-year growth, closing 2024 with £42 million in GWP. The company now aims to reach £100 million GWP within the next five years.
The deal comes at a time of heightened activity in the UK non-standard home insurance market. A broker survey conducted in April by Prestige Underwriting highlighted a sharp increase in demand for such products. Unoccupied properties (75%) and flood-risk homes (64%) were identified as the top areas of rising need, up from 55% in the previous year.
