Casper Specialty UK has unveiled Tundra Specialty, a new business dedicated to serving the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.
The launch marks the first phase of Casper’s broader strategy to diversify its product offerings. Tundra Specialty is expected to begin underwriting by the end of 2025 and will operate within the Casper platform while maintaining its own brand identity and distinct underwriting strategy.
Industry Leadership and Expertise
Tundra Specialty will be led by Matthew Melville, former founder and CEO of Albus, part of Ryan Specialty Group. Melville brings extensive experience in the renewable energy market, having previously served as head of renewable energy at both Travelers and AXIS Capital.
He will be joined by Roger Mclean, who steps in as head of distribution. Additional senior appointments are anticipated once existing contractual commitments are completed.
Renewable Energy Market Outlook
Recent studies by FM Global and WTW underscore the growing importance of resilience and risk management in insuring and financing renewable energy projects. The research found that 97% of solar developers and 95% of onshore wind operators plan to increase their output within the next three years, highlighting strong sector growth.
Despite this momentum, access to capital remains a key challenge—with 64% of lenders and 58% of investors reporting that current funding demand outpaces available supply. As a result, project resilience has emerged as a decisive factor shaping investment appetite, valuations, and contractual frameworks across the renewable energy landscape.
