CFC Appoints Nick Line As Chief Underwriting Officer

CFC, a leading specialist insurance provider, has announced the appointment of Nick Line as its next Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). Line will assume the role in 2026, following the completion of his current tenure at Markel, where he has served for 28 years—including as CUO since 2018.

In his upcoming role at CFC, Line will be responsible for overseeing the group’s underwriting strategy and performance, playing a central role in guiding the company’s future direction. The appointment is part of a broader leadership restructuring initiative aimed at supporting CFC’s ongoing international growth and reinforcing its focus on emerging risks and cyber insurance.

Line brings nearly three decades of experience across actuarial and underwriting disciplines. Since joining the insurance industry in 1997, he has been instrumental in product innovation, international expansion, and acquisition integration. At Markel, he was credited with broadening the company’s underwriting portfolio and enhancing its operational and underwriting capabilities.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Line is actively involved in shaping the industry. He currently chairs the Inclusion @ Lloyd’s committee, which promotes diversity and inclusion within the Lloyd’s market, and serves on the Lloyd’s Market Association’s CUO Committee, a platform for senior underwriting leaders to address market-wide challenges and initiatives.

CFC and Markel have maintained a strategic partnership since 2019, with Markel providing capacity across several of CFC’s MGA lines, including transaction liability and terrorism insurance. Their collaboration has emphasized innovation and specialized capacity deployment, and Line’s transition is expected to further strengthen ties between the two firms.
