Direct Line Group (DLG) has announced the appointment of James Gearey as director of claims services, with Gearey set to commence his new role in Q1 2024.
For the new function, Gearey will oversee the management of both DLG’s Auto Services and DLG Legal Services.
With an extensive background in the finance industry, Gearey joins the Direct Line Group from MotoNovo Finance, a division of Aldermore Bank, where he serves as the interim commercial and performance director. His professional journey includes leadership positions in organizations such as Aviva, Siemens Financial Services, and Covea Insurance.
Upon taking the post next year, both the DLG Auto Services and DLG Legal Services teams will operate under his leadership. Until then, however, the DLG Auto Services leadership team will continue reporting to John Ashmore, acting managing director of claims, while the head of DLG Legal Services will maintain reporting duties to John Saunders, director of technical and large loss.
“I am delighted to welcome James Gearey to Direct Line Group. James has a wealth of industry experience and a solid foundation to bring to the role. I am sure James’ expertise will help us in our continued commitment to providing excellent customer service and claims management,” DLG acting CEO Jonathan Greenwood said.
In other recent developments, DLG also announced that it has brought in David Neave as an independent non-executive director for its board.
