Gallagher has strengthened its European private equity and M&A practice with the addition of three senior professionals in Spain, underscoring the firm’s ongoing investment in the sector.
The new hires – Cristina Montserrat Chaparro Vaquero, Veronica Orosa Talarewitz, and Pau Lopez Fornons – will join Gallagher’s wider European Private Equity and M&A team.
Montserrat Chaparro Vaquero joins as senior broker, specialising in tax and warranty & indemnity (W&I) insurance. She previously spent 14 years at PwC as a tax advisor before moving to AON, where she became Director of Tax Insurance Practice for Iberia. Most recently, she led Sabseg’s M&A transactional solutions team for Iberia and Italy, working alongside Orosa Talarewitz and Lopez Fornons.
Orosa Talarewitz has been appointed to a dual broking and claims role. A qualified lawyer, she began her career at Clyde & Co in insurance law, later joining AIG as a financial lines and M&A major loss claims adjuster. At Sabseg, she served as W&I insurance solutions and M&A and financial lines claims director.
Lopez Fornons takes up the role of associate broker in the W&I segment. His background includes 10 years as a tax advisor at PwC, followed by in-house tax roles at Aedas Homes and Crowe. He later transitioned into broking, focusing on M&A and tax insurance.
These appointments mark the latest in a series of strategic hires by Gallagher aimed at bolstering its private equity and M&A capabilities. In August, the firm named Alistair Lester as CEO of Private Equity and M&A for the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. Earlier in June, Henk Bijl joined as senior broker for transactional risks in Europe, while October 2024 saw the arrival of Joyce Koch and Vera Dembski as tax specialists.
Gallagher has also been making moves at the executive level within its specialty operations. In February, the firm appointed Sarah Lyons as CEO of its London Specialty division, where she now oversees 1,100 employees and serves on Gallagher’s UK executive leadership team.
