Grange Insurance Names Ryan Michel As Chief Property And Casualty Officer

Grange Insurance Company has appointed Ryan Michel as its new chief property and casualty officer.

Michel brings over 20 years of industry experience, most recently serving as president and chief underwriting officer at Trusted Resource Underwriters. Before that, he spent more than two decades at Allstate Insurance, where he held various executive leadership positions, including president of Allstate Business Insurance, overseeing $1 billion in commercial premiums.

His tenure also includes 11 years in Canada, where he served as chief risk officer and later as president and CEO of the Allstate Canada Group of Companies. Under his leadership, Allstate Canada increased its premium volume by 50%, surpassing $2.4 billion, while maintaining consistent profitability across multiple distribution channels, including the independent agency channel.

Michel’s appointment follows a series of strategic leadership moves at Grange Insurance. Last month, the company promoted Mike Hickman to vice president of national underwriting and business operations, where he will oversee national underwriting and business functions.

In addition, Grange Insurance expanded Nicole Carter’s role as vice president of PL sales and strategic distribution in November. Carter, who has led the company’s strategic distribution roadmap since 2022, will continue shaping its sales and distribution strategy.

Further strengthening its leadership team, Holly Benson and Phil Davis were appointed to the company’s board in February.

These leadership changes underscore Grange Insurance’s commitment to growth and innovation in the property and casualty sector.
