Hamilton Global Specialty Appoints Niamh O’Brien As Chief Actuary

Hamilton Global Specialty has appointed Niamh O’Brien as its new chief actuary.

Speaking on O’Brien’s appointment, group chief risk officer Alex Baker shared how the firm will benefit from her extensive skills, which she has garnered from decades of experience in the industry.

With O’Brien’s appointment coming into effect on June 1, she has been reporting to Hamilton Insurance Group’s group chief actuary Wilfred Chin.

O’Brien joined Hamilton in 2021 and has since led key actuarial reserving activities and provided advisory support as an actuarial consultant. She has also held senior actuarial roles at Caitlin, Hiscox, W.R. Berkley, and Tokio Marine Kiln over the past 20 years.

O’Brien’s new role as chief actuary comes on the back of a string of appointments which have seen Hamilton name Ross Reynolds as the new chief executive officer of Hamilton Insurance DAC, Bradley E. Cooper as a member of Hamilton Insurance Group’s board of directors, and Chin in his new position.

Hamilton Global Specialty is one of the underwriting platforms of Hamilton Insurance Group, with the others being Hamilton Select and Hamilton Re. Hamilton Insurance Group is a specialty insurance and reinsurance firm which underwrites risks on a global basis.

Additionally, Hamilton recently announced it will report its financial results for the second quarter of 2024 on August 7.
