Harford Mutual Insurance Group Announces Key Leadership Promotions And New Director Appointment

Harford Mutual Insurance Group has made three leadership promotions and a new directorial appointment.

Pauline Bao has been promoted to assistant vice president and chief actuary. Since joining the company in 2023 as senior director of actuarial, Bao has been instrumental in driving actuarial initiatives. In her new role, she will lead the actuarial department, overseeing critical functions such as pricing, reserving, risk management, and analytics. Bao’s leadership will be key in strengthening the department and improving the underwriting process. Her background includes notable experience at Chubb, where she served as analytics product owner and assistant vice president actuary for cyber within the risk management and analytics division.

Christopher (C.J.) D’Alessio has been appointed assistant vice president of underwriting. He will be responsible for overseeing underwriting activities across all divisions, with a focus on implementing strategies to drive growth and align practices with Harford Mutual’s broader objectives. D’Alessio’s journey with the company began in 2012 as an underwriter. He has since taken on several leadership roles, including field underwriting specialist and director of underwriting.

Jillian Taylor has advanced to assistant vice president of finance. In addition to leading the finance team, she will assume the role of branch manager for Harford Mutual’s Midwest office in Louisville, Kentucky. Taylor brings a wealth of experience to her expanded role, having previously served as chief financial officer, treasurer, and vice president of finance at Clearpath Specialty, and as CFO of Lawyers Mutual of Kentucky.

In addition to the promotions, Harford Mutual also welcomed Denise Elias as director of claims, auto, and operations. Elias will focus on refining the company’s auto claims processes and managing updates to its claims system.

Elias comes with over 20 years of expertise in auto claims, having spent 27 years at Westfield Insurance where she held positions including auto claims process manager and auto unit leader.
