HDI UK & Ireland has named Tom Potter as its new director of liability, effective September 22, 2025.
In his role, Potter will lead the company’s liability underwriting strategy, with a strong emphasis on profitable growth and maintaining robust technical standards.
Potter joins HDI from AXA XL, where he served as global casualty underwriting manager for UK & Lloyd’s within the global chief underwriting office. There, he worked closely with regional portfolio leaders to evaluate strategy and profitability in casualty underwriting. Over the past 15 years, he has built extensive expertise across casualty, environmental, construction, and property lines.
The announcement follows HDI Global SE’s solid financial performance in the first half of 2025. The insurer reported €5.1 billion in revenue for the period, an 8% year-on-year increase, while operating profit climbed 24% to €377 million compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
In late 2024, HDI also broadened its product suite, expanding its environmental liability cover worldwide and integrating social and governance elements to support rising ESG requirements.
