Hiscox And Send Technology Announce Key Leadership Appointments To Drive Strategic Growth

Specialist insurer Hiscox and insurtech firm Send Technology have each made significant additions to their leadership teams, with appointments aimed at enhancing operational capabilities and supporting long-term expansion.

Hiscox Appoints Harriet Hanna as COO of Syndicate Business

Hiscox has named Harriet Hanna as the incoming chief operating officer of Hiscox Syndicates Ltd (HSL), its Lloyd’s of London managing agency, pending regulatory approval. She is set to assume the role in September 2025, succeeding Adam Rushin, who is retiring after more than 25 years with the company.

HSL provides underwriting capacity to various Hiscox business units, including Hiscox London Market. In her new role, Hanna will be responsible for overseeing HSL’s operational functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining service excellence across all syndicate activities. She will also lead the operations and change teams within the London Market division.

Hanna brings more than two decades of experience in technology and financial services, having held senior leadership roles at institutions such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, and Amazon. Most recently, she served as chief operations officer at Funding Circle Ltd.

Based in London, she will report to Kate Markham, CEO of Hiscox London Market, and will serve on both the London Market leadership team and the HSL board.

Send Technology Names Will Sparkes as Chief People Officer

Send Technology has appointed Will Sparkes as its new chief people officer, a strategic move as the insurtech firm accelerates its global growth.

In this role, Sparkes will lead the development and execution of Send’s talent strategy, with a focus on nurturing a high-performing, international, and remote-first team. He will oversee the creation of performance frameworks and career development pathways to support the company’s expansion.

Sparkes brings extensive HR leadership experience, having held senior roles at Informa, MetLife, and several high-growth technology firms.

Send’s AI-powered underwriting platform supports the commercial and specialty insurance markets by automating manual processes and managing over £30 billion in gross written premium.
