Insurance And Insurtech Firms Announce Series Of Senior Appointments

Several insurance and insurtech firms have announced a series of senior appointments, spanning marine underwriting, delegated authorities and executive leadership.

Westfield Specialty strengthens marine liability team

Westfield Specialty International has appointed Abigail Piper (pictured above, left) as deputy class underwriter for marine liability, based in London.

Piper brings more than 15 years of industry experience and joins from Convex Insurance, where she served as senior underwriter for marine and energy liability. Prior to this, she spent almost 12 years in underwriting roles at Markel International.

Her appointment follows Westfield Specialty International’s recent recruitment of Matt Radbourne to lead its power and renewables line. Piper will report to Simon Engelen, class underwriter for marine liability.

HWS Specialty appoints executive director for delegated authorities

HWS Specialty has named William Alderton (pictured above, right) as executive director for delegated authorities, effective January 26, 2026.

Alderton has nearly 40 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s market. He joins from AXIS Capital, where he most recently served as unit head of worldwide property binders, overseeing underwriting operations across Australia, Canada, the US, Europe and the Caribbean.

Before AXIS, Alderton spent a decade at Chaucer Syndicates as international binders underwriter for Lloyd’s Syndicate 1084.

HIVE Underwriters launches marine specialty

HIVE Underwriters has announced its expansion into specialty marine insurance with the appointment of Nick Lewis as marine chief underwriting officer, effective July 2026.

Lewis joins from Everest Insurance, where he served as head of marine, international. The marine launch follows HIVE’s entry into space insurance at the end of 2025 and builds on its established aviation underwriting capabilities.

Greater Than AB names new chief executive

In the insurtech sector, Greater Than AB has appointed Johanna Forseke as chief executive, with the transition scheduled for May 2026.

Forseke has served as deputy CEO since 2023 and chief business officer since 2020, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Warwick.

Outgoing CEO Liselott Johansson will remain in her role until the company’s annual general meeting in May. Johansson has led Greater Than for more than 18 years, including overseeing its listing on Nasdaq First North Growth Market in 2017.
