Insurance Firms Announce Senior Underwriting And Leadership Appointments

Several insurance firms have announced senior appointments, reflecting continued investment in underwriting leadership and specialist expertise.

AXA UK Commercial appoints new chief underwriting officer

AXA UK Commercial has appointed Caroline Dunn as chief underwriting officer, following the announced retirement of David Ovenden, who has held the role since December 2021. Dunn will join the business on July 1, with Ovenden remaining in post until the summer to support a smooth transition.

Dunn joins AXA from Zurich UK, where she served as chief underwriting officer, leading underwriting strategy with a strong focus on technical discipline, portfolio performance and growth. Prior to this, she spent seven years at Lloyd’s of London in senior underwriting roles, overseeing underwriting performance across the Lloyd’s market.

Arch Insurance UK strengthens regional underwriting team

Arch Insurance UK has appointed James Heys as senior property and casualty underwriter, effective immediately. Based in Colchester, Heys will be responsible for new business development across the property and casualty portfolio in East Anglia and will report to David Mann, Colchester branch manager.

Heys brings more than 20 years of UK insurance experience to the role. He joins Arch from Victor Insurance, where he was UK sports product lead, and previously held a commercial underwriting position at MS Amlin.

Tysers adds director to property and casualty division

Tysers has appointed William Lines as director within its property and casualty division. Lines has more than 15 years of market experience and specialises in placing large and complex risks in international commercial property markets.

QBE expands life science underwriting in the Nordics

QBE has created a new senior life science underwriter role in the Nordics, appointing Henrik Hansen.

Based in Copenhagen, Hansen will be responsible for developing QBE’s pharma and life science portfolio across the region, covering pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical innovation and veterinary medicine. His remit also includes delivering liability solutions for clinical trials.
