Two significant leadership changes have been announced in the insurance sector, signalling strategic moves to drive growth and innovation.
Amiga Specialty Expands into Transactional Risks
B.P. Marsh-backed managing general agent Amiga Specialty has appointed Richard Mills as Managing Director for Transactional Risks in the UK and Europe.
Based in London, Mills will spearhead the launch of Amiga’s transactional risks division, overseeing strategic positioning, distribution, and carrier partner relationships. He will report directly to Amiga Specialty Managing Director Adam Kembrooke.
Mills began his insurance career at Capital Risks in 2018 and most recently served as Transactional Risks Director at Nexus Underwriting. Prior to his insurance career, he held legal positions at Proskauer Rose and Linklaters. His appointment marks Amiga’s official entry into the growing transactional risks market, which provides cover for warranties and indemnities, tax liabilities, and contingent risks—areas increasingly sought after amid sustained M&A activity and complex corporate restructurings.
Verisk Boosts Catastrophe Risk Modelling Leadership
Verisk has named Eric Spear as Chief Technology Officer for its Extreme Event Solutions division.
Spear, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at global payments firm Flywire, will lead engineering, quality assurance, and IT functions. His mandate includes accelerating product development through AI-driven and cloud-based architecture, with a focus on enhancing catastrophe risk modelling capabilities.
