Key Leadership Moves Shape UK And European Insurance Landscape

The UK and European insurance and insurtech markets continue to experience a steady stream of senior appointments and strategic developments across key organisations.

Texel Foundation appoints new foundation manager

The Texel Foundation — the philanthropic arm of independent broker The Texel Group — has named Emily Bild as its new foundation manager.

Bild brings more than two decades of experience in the global non-profit sector, having held leadership roles at UNICEF, Plan International and the GoPhilanthropic Foundation, where she served as director of programmes. She also sits on the board of trustees for Railway Children and is co-director of Better Funding, an initiative focused on driving more equitable philanthropic practices.

Westfield Specialty unveils cyber offering

Westfield Specialty International has launched a dedicated cyber underwriting team and appointed Ben Watson as class underwriter, effective January 1, 2026.

Watson has over nine years of experience in cyber and technology underwriting, with previous senior positions at Zurich and Beazley. The new cyber team forms part of Westfield Specialty’s broader expansion of its financial lines portfolio and its London underwriting capabilities.

Lumera AB strengthens board of directors

Insurtech firm Lumera has appointed Duncan Howorth to its board of directors, effective this December. Howworth previously chaired ITM — a data management and technology solutions provider acquired by Lumera last year — and also served as senior advisor to Lumera UK. He additionally holds a non-executive directorship with NatWest Cushon.

The Swedish Club names new CFO

Mutual insurer The Swedish Club has appointed Markus Johansson as chief financial officer.

Johansson brings more than 20 years of international financial leadership experience, with previous roles at Elseco, EF Education First and the GAC Group.

Tryg A/S announces supervisory board changes

Jukka Pertola, who has chair Tryg’s supervisory board since 2017, has confirmed he will not seek re-election at the 2026 annual general meeting.

During his tenure, Pertola oversaw major strategic developments at Tryg, including the group’s 2023 CEO transition and continued expansion across Scandinavia.

The supervisory board has nominated Steffen Kragh as the next chair and Benedicte Bakke Agerup as deputy chair. Vibeke Krag has been nominated as a new member of both boards.
