Key players such as Liberty Mutual, Ascot Group, Acrisure, Cozen O’Connor, and LP Insurance Services have made significant executive changes aimed at strengthening their market positions and operational capabilities.

Liberty Mutual Names Timothy Sweeney as Chairman

Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Timothy Sweeney as chairman of the board, effective April 9, 2025. Sweeney currently serves as president and CEO and will succeed David Long, who is set to retire from both roles after a 40-year tenure with the company. Long held numerous leadership positions, including a decade as CEO.

Sweeney assumed the role of president and CEO in January 2023 following Long’s retirement from the CEO post. His elevation to chairman reflects a strategic continuity in leadership as the company moves forward.

Ascot Group Taps Marc Amen as CEO of North America

Ascot Group has appointed Marc Amen as CEO of North America, a role he will assume later this year upon the completion of his current commitments. Amen, a former executive at RenaissanceRe, brings 24 years of underwriting and leadership experience to Ascot.

In his new role, Amen will oversee operations across the United States and Bermuda and will join the company’s executive committee, underscoring Ascot’s focus on expanding its North American footprint.

Acrisure Strengthens Executive Team with Key Appointments

Acrisure has announced two senior leadership hires: Mark Wassersug as chief technology officer and Shawn Pelsinger as chief administrative officer. Both appointments are effective later this month and align with the company’s growth strategy, particularly in technology and operational excellence.

Wassersug, formerly with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), will spearhead Acrisure’s technology initiatives. Pelsinger, who previously served as global head of corporate development at Palantir Technologies, will oversee legal, HR, and regulatory functions.

Cozen O’Connor Expands Global Insurance Practice

Cozen O’Connor has announced the addition of Jeff Work, a former Texas state district court judge, to its global insurance department.

Bringing a wealth of experience in civil and commercial litigation, Work joins the firm’s Houston office from Germer P.L.L.C. Throughout his career, he has represented clients across a broad spectrum of legal matters, including mass torts, insurance coverage disputes, and product liability cases.

LP Insurance Services Enhances Commercial Lines Team

LP Insurance Services LLC has expanded its commercial lines team in Southern Nevada with the addition of industry veteran Rachael Rizzi.

With more than two decades of experience in the insurance sector, Rizzi will play a key role in strengthening client relationships and supporting business development within the company’s commercial lines division. She also contributes to the industry through her service on the Nevada Department of Insurance Commissioner’s Agent Advisory Council and as a board member of the Nevada Independent Insurance Agents.
