Leadership Moves Reshape The UK And Irish Insurance Landscape

A series of significant leadership changes and senior appointments have been announced across the UK and Irish insurance and financial services sectors, signalling continued evolution and investment in strategic leadership.

HSB UK&I Managing Director to Retire in 2026

HSB has initiated the search for a new managing director, with chief executive Andrew Burke launching a formal succession process that will assess both internal and external candidates.

Current managing director Terry Dyson, who will retire in 2026, joined HSB in 2019 and became commercial director in 2022, overseeing sales, business development, partnerships, and operations. He stepped into the managing director role for HSB’s engineering insurance business in 2024.

Dyson began his career in 1986 at National Vulcan Engineering Group, previously part of the Sun Alliance Group, and has since held a wide range of senior roles from front-line sales to strategic leadership.

Lloyds Banking Group Appoints New Chief Investment Officer

Lloyds Banking Group has named Peter Fitzgerald (pictured) as its new chief investment officer, succeeding Kevin Doran, who will depart early next year after playing a key role in shaping the firm’s investment proposition.

In his new role, Fitzgerald will oversee investment strategy and fund management across Scottish Widows and Schroders Personal Wealth, which Lloyds recently acquired.

He joins from Aviva Investors, where he served as CIO for multi-asset and macro, leading a global team managing more than £100bn in assets. His career spans over 25 years in multi-asset investing, macro strategy, and portfolio management, including senior roles with BNP Paribas Wealth Management and Insinger de Beaufort.

FUW Insurance Services Adds New Non-Executive Director

FUW Insurance Services has appointed Dr Paul Jameson as a non-executive director, following the retirement of long-standing board member Ken Isherwood, who steps down after more than ten years of service.

Jameson brings extensive actuarial and risk management expertise, having held executive positions at subsidiaries of Allianz, Munich Re, Legal & General, and Wakam. Since 2020, he has served in a series of chief risk officer roles.

Tide Names CEO for Insurance Services Division

Business management platform Tide has appointed Dan McNally as senior vice president and CEO of Tide Insurance Services, subject to FCA approval.

McNally will spearhead the company’s global insurance operations and lead its expansion into business protection products for small and medium-sized enterprises.

With over 25 years’ industry experience across insurer and broker environments, McNally most recently held a leadership role at Simply Business, overseeing one of its major growth units. His previous career highlights include more than a decade with RSA Insurance Group (now Intact), a position on the executive committee of the UK’s largest broker network, and a leadership role at insurtech Cytora.
