Marsh has announced the appointment of Adam Russell as head of global wholesale, effective immediately.
In this newly established role, Russell will lead Marsh’s global wholesale insurance broking operations, including portfolio solutions. Reporting to John Donnelly, president of global placement at Marsh, he will continue to be based in London.
Russell’s responsibilities include advancing Marsh’s global wholesale and facultative business while collaborating with teams across the firm to provide clients with comprehensive placement capabilities and advisory services.
Previously, Russell served as head of strategy, global placement, a position he assumed in December 2023. Since joining Marsh in 2014, he has held multiple senior leadership positions, including leading Marsh’s international wholesale placement operations in Singapore. He later became the placement leader for Marsh Asia’s retail business in 2018 before transitioning to London in 2022 to head the UK Portfolio Solutions and Digital Placement teams.
In conjunction with Russell’s appointment, Marsh also announced that Charlotte Meah will succeed him as head of strategy, global placement. Based in Atlanta, Meah will report to Donnelly. She joined Marsh in 2013 as a senior advisor in the risk consulting business and most recently served as chief of staff for Marsh Specialty & Global Placement.
Russell’s promotion marks the second significant leadership change at Marsh this month. Earlier, the firm named Amy Barnes as global head of energy & power, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the net zero transition. In her new role, Barnes will lead strategy and innovation for Marsh’s global network of energy and power advisors, risk engineers, and brokers while continuing her responsibilities as head of climate and sustainability strategy at Marsh.
