Marsh Expands In Italy With Acquisition Of Fontana Rava-Toscano & Partners

Marsh has strengthened its capabilities in serving mid-sized businesses with international operations through the acquisition of Fontana Rava-Toscano & Partners (FRT), a Milan-based insurance brokerage firm. This move aligns with Marsh’s broader strategy to expand its presence in Italy.

FRT, founded in 1992 by its current partners along with Giancarlo Fontana Rava, specializes in property and casualty insurance brokerage and risk consulting. The firm caters primarily to mid-sized companies across various industries, including industrial and manufacturing, financial institutions, and aviation. Additionally, FRT provides services related to employee benefits and financial risk management.

Following the acquisition, FRT will be rebranded as Marsh FRT. Its leadership team, comprising Stefano Toscano, Paolo Vigo, Edoardo Poss, and Nicolò Fontana Rava, will remain in place and focus on expanding services for middle-market clients. They will also collaborate closely with Marsh McLennan’s other businesses, including Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman, to provide a comprehensive suite of risk and advisory solutions.

This acquisition comes amid strong financial performance for Marsh McLennan. In the fourth quarter and full-year 2024, the company reported significant revenue growth, achieving an 8% increase from 2023, with total revenue reaching $24.5 billion and underlying revenue growth of 7%.

Additionally, in November 2024, Marsh McLennan finalized its largest-ever acquisition, purchasing McGriff Insurance Services for $7.75 billion. This milestone underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to expansion and delivering enhanced solutions to its clients globally.
