Marsh McLennan Appoints Carlos Rivera As CEO

Marsh McLennan has announced the appointment of Carlos Rivera as the new CEO for its Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) division, as well as president of Marsh LAC, effective January 1, 2025. Rivera will succeed Ricardo Brockmann, who will assume the role of chairman for the region.

Currently serving as CEO of Carpenter Marsh FAC, Rivera brings with him 24 years of experience in the global insurance and reinsurance sector. Based in Bogotá, he will report directly to Flavio Piccolomini, CEO of Marsh McLennan International. In his new position, Rivera will be responsible for guiding Marsh McLennan’s regional strategy, focusing on enhancing client services and expanding the firm’s offerings across its LAC operations. His priorities will include Marsh’s insurance broking and risk advisory services.

Rivera joined Marsh in 2001, starting in the firm’s Colombia office and later working as a reinsurance broker in London. In 2016, he returned to Colombia as head of placement for all 11 operations of Marsh LAC and has led Carpenter Marsh FAC since 2020.

As Rivera takes on his new role, Brockmann, based in Mexico City, will support him in driving the company’s regional goals, with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. Brockmann’s tenure at Marsh McLennan spans over 25 years, most recently serving as CEO of Marsh McLennan LAC and president of Marsh LAC since February 2023. With a career of more than 40 years in the insurance industry, his leadership has been pivotal for both Marsh LAC and Marsh McLennan Mexico over the past 13 years.
