Specialist insurance and reinsurance broker Miller has strengthened its Singapore-based property and casualty (P&C) team with the appointment of Konatsu Watanabe as a broker. Bringing over eight years of insurance industry experience, Watanabe’s expertise lies in facultative placements, particularly focusing on Japanese businesses across Asia.
Prior to joining Miller, Watanabe served as associate director at UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers in Singapore and as assistant client manager at Tokio Marine Insurance Group. Earlier in her career, she worked as a sales executive at Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance in Tokyo, gaining valuable experience in client relations and insurance sales.
Watanabe’s professional credentials include managing corporate employee benefit programs and earning certifications in commercial and personal general insurance from the Singapore College of Insurance in 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Laws in Political Science from Keio University in Japan and completed an exchange program in Sociology at Queen’s University in Canada.
Miller emphasized that Watanabe’s appointment aligns with its strategic goal of expanding its presence in Asia, leveraging her expertise to enhance its offerings in the region’s P&C market.
This appointment follows Miller’s recent announcement of two other key hires as part of its growth strategy in professional and financial lines. Amanda Armitage has joined the international professions team as a business development manager, bringing over 15 years of experience in professional indemnity.
Meanwhile, Scott Gorman has been named head of Miller’s UK and international PI wholesale team. Gorman’s career spans underwriting roles at Wimsure Underwriting and Towergate’s financial risks team, as well as leading the new business division at Price Forbes (formerly MGB Insurance Brokers).
These strategic appointments reflect Miller’s continued commitment to expanding its capabilities and delivering specialist solutions across global markets.
