The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. announced the appointment of former chief risk officer Soraya Wright as vice president of strategic initiatives. She is succeeding Carol Fox, who is retiring.
According to a statement by RIMS, Ms. Wright assumed the role effective January 4. Ms. Wright’s previous experience includes the role of chief risk officer of SMW Risk Management Consulting LLC, and before that, she was the vice president of enterprise risk management at Target Corp.
Ms. Wright has been an active member of RIMS for 30 years. As vice president of strategic initiatives, Ms. Wright will assume the duties of helping identify trends, assessing the viability of new initiatives, and evaluating existing ones to ensure growth and sustainability, the statement said.
The statement also says that she will also lead the knowledge and learning, program and content development, publications, strategic and enterprise risk practices, and standards development divisions.
The position also serves as staff adviser and co-liaison to RIMS’ strategic and enterprise risk management and standards and practices council.
RIMS CEO Mary Roth said in the statement, “2020 has taught us that risk professionals must be prepared and ready to adapt to anything and, as the world’s leading risk management association, RIMS must be prepared to deliver strategic solutions and resources to support those evolving needs.” Ms. Wright will be based in the San Francisco area and report to Ms. Roth.
