Roots Contractor Insurance (RCI) has formed a strategic partnership with specialist commercial insurer Peach to provide capacity for its portfolio of contractor-focused business insurance products.
The collaboration enables RCI to distribute key policies—professional indemnity (PI), public liability (PL), and employers’ liability (EL)—via its proprietary online portal. The platform, already serving more than 5,000 policyholders, allows contractors to obtain quotes and bind cover instantly. Occupations are automatically categorised as “accept” or “decline,” while referrals are reviewed manually by RCI staff to ensure tailored coverage.
RCI, established by the Vestura Group in 2020, developed its contractor insurance range under the leadership of Willcocks, who previously held senior roles at Qdos and Kingsbridge and founded Larsen Howie. He noted that securing a capacity partner with a consistent underwriting appetite was central to RCI’s growth strategy.
The new partnership coincides with the integration of RCI’s online platform and its Contractor Compliance Portal (CCP), a tool designed for recruiters placing contractors. By linking with the RCI system, the CCP now delivers automated quotes for PI, PL, and EL insurance underwritten by Peach. The scheme targets independent professional contractors operating as limited companies, with turnover up to £350,000 and no more than two employees. While currently modest in scale, the integration is expected to fuel growth and create a new revenue stream for both partners.
Beyond this agreement, Peach has been expanding its presence in the SME and specialist insurance markets. Recent initiatives include a collaboration with digital distributor Starpeak to launch tailored cover for creative professionals such as designers and photographers, as well as a partnership with Yutree to introduce a property owners binder, offering brokers faster solutions for risks outside standard markets.
