Ryan Specialty has announced the appointment of Justin Budd as senior vice president and head of internal consulting within its specialty underwriting division, Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM).
Budd brings extensive expertise from his career in the insurance sector. Before joining Ryan Specialty, he was a key member of the leadership team at a top-tier global consulting firm specializing in insurance. More recently, Budd held leadership roles at a global insurance carrier, where he spearheaded initiatives that addressed critical challenges and delivered measurable results.
Miles Wuller, president and chief executive officer of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, commented on the new hire, saying: “Justin has tremendous hands-on experience building solutions for the insurance industry, and it is my pleasure to welcome him onto the RSUM team.”

Last year, the company named Shawn Yingling as chief retail distribution officer of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers. Yingling’s appointment is expected to improve RSUM’s specialty insurance offerings and strengthen its relationships with industry partners.
Additionally, Ryan Specialty has bolstered its executive team internationally by naming Mark Birrell as executive chairman and James Montgomery as chief executive officer of RSUM International. These appointments align with the company’s strategic plans to meet its global growth objectives.
