SCOR Appoints Paula Bourke As CEO Of Life And Health For Australia And New Zealand

SCOR has announced the appointment of Paula Bourke as CEO of Life and Health (L&H) for Australia and New Zealand, with immediate effect.

Bourke brings over 26 years of insurance industry experience to her new role, including eight years at SCOR. During her tenure, she has served as deputy CEO for Australia and New Zealand, as well as global head of proposition and innovation for L&H. In these capacities, she focused on underwriting, claims, and driving innovative solutions tailored to the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Before this, Bourke spent six years as strategic head of underwriting and claims for L&H. Prior to joining SCOR, she held senior leadership positions with several prominent insurance companies. At Westpac, she was head of underwriting and claims for L&H, and at CommInsure, she managed executive claims for both property and casualty (P&C) and L&H portfolios. Earlier in her career, she worked at AXA as a training manager for L&H, and with NRMA and GIO, where she gained significant experience in P&C claims management. Bourke holds an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business.

In related news, SCOR recently announced an agreement to acquire Altarea SCA’s stake in M.R.M. SA (MRM), a retail real estate company. This acquisition, representing 15.9% of MRM’s share capital, will increase SCOR’s total ownership to 72.5%. The transaction could result in a squeeze-out and subsequent delisting of MRM by the end of 2024, pending regulatory approval from the French financial markets authority, Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF).
