Sedgwick Names Dan Sivertsen As CEO

Sedgwick has appointed Dan Sivertsen, currently head of its Norwegian operations, as CEO of Sedgwick Sweden, effective September 20.

The appointment strengthens Sedgwick’s leadership across the Nordic region, as the firm focuses on building deeper client relationships and delivering a unified approach to claims management.

Sivertsen, who joined Sedgwick in 2019 through its acquisition of Nordic Loss Adjusting, brings over 20 years of expertise in insurance, claims management, and risk solutions. With extensive experience supporting Swedish clients, he has long-standing ties to the local market. After returning to Sedgwick in 2022 as CEO of Norway, Sivertsen has since driven growth and broadened the company’s offerings in claims administration and risk support.

His new dual leadership role reflects Sedgwick’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Nordics at a time when insurers and corporates are navigating increasingly complex claims environments. Rising litigation, climate-related risks, and operational pressures are driving greater demand for streamlined, regionally coordinated claims services.

For Sweden’s insurance market, Sedgwick’s move could reshape how carriers select loss adjusting partners. International insurers and brokers may be drawn to the benefits of a consistent, cross-border claims strategy, while smaller domestic adjusters may look to distinguish themselves through niche services or local agility.

The appointment also underscores intensifying competition in the Nordic loss adjusting space. Rivals such as Crawford & Company and McLarens have recently expanded their presence in Scandinavia through acquisitions and partnerships. Sedgwick’s decision to consolidate leadership signals its intent to compete with a coordinated regional strategy that combines scale with local insight.

This follows last month’s appointment of Kalani Reelitz as Sedgwick’s new chief financial officer, succeeding Henry Lyons, to oversee the company’s global financial strategy and operations.
