Specialist Risk Group Launches Australian Operations

Specialist Risk Group (SRG), the specialist insurance intermediary backed by Warburg Pincus and Temasek, has launched operations in Australia, marking a significant milestone in the group’s international expansion strategy.

The Australian business will be fully integrated into SRG’s established platforms in London, Singapore and Europe, while retaining a strong local service focus. At launch, the operation will concentrate on the entertainment, media and sport sectors, with plans to expand into additional specialist lines in the near future.

Global growth strategy

The move forms part of SRG’s wider international growth strategy, which has accelerated in recent years. Between 2024 and 2025, the group secured a strategic investment partnership with global growth investor Warburg Pincus and Singapore-based investment company Temasek. The transaction resulted in a majority shareholding and provided additional capital to support SRG’s global ambitions.

SRG has also pursued growth through targeted acquisitions and regional expansion. In 2025, the group acquired German broker Ecclesia’s operations in the Netherlands and Belgium, adding seven businesses to its European platform and establishing a presence in mainland Europe.

In the Asia-Pacific region, SRG opened a regional hub in Singapore in 2024, designed to deliver specialist solutions for complex risks across the market.

Laurence Basell, managing director – Australia at SRG, said the launch presents an opportunity to combine “strong local relationships with the international strength of the wider SRG platform, supported by technology that makes it easier to work with us and delivers a straightforward, high-quality experience for clients and partners.”
