Specialist Risk Group To Acquire Kennett Insurance & Risk Management

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has agreed to acquire Kennett Insurance & Risk Management, subject to regulatory approval, as it continues to expand its presence across the North of England and strengthen its UK retail platform.

Kennett operates from offices in Hull and Leeds, and the acquisition will enhance SRG’s regional footprint by adding an established local presence and experienced teams.

The business has built a strong client base across a range of sectors, including construction, manufacturing, property, motor fleet, motor trade, logistics and the wider service sector. Kennett also has expertise in niche and community-focused markets.

Upon completion of the transaction, Kennett will become part of SRG’s UK Retail pillar. Clients will continue to be supported by the existing Kennett team, while also benefiting from access to SRG’s broader resources and capabilities.

Schofield added that the partnership will allow Kennett to maintain its strong client-focused approach while gaining access to the scale and resources of a larger group.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic deals by SRG. In October 2025, the group acquired a wholesale team from Lockton, led by Shelley Wright, as part of its efforts to strengthen its London Market capabilities.

That team was integrated with Miles Smith to form a combined unit aimed at enhancing SRG’s wholesale offering across its businesses, including CBC Partnership and The Underwriting Exchange.

SRG has also agreed to acquire London-based City Quarter Brokers, a specialist in complex risks within the construction, engineering and infrastructure sectors. City Quarter joined SRG’s Wholesale division, with the group citing increased capacity to deliver placement solutions for complex risks across global markets.
