Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI), the international arm of global specialty insurance group Tokio Marine HCC, has announced key leadership changes with the promotion of Thibaud Hervy to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Simon Button to Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). These appointments are effective immediately, pending regulatory approval.
Thibaud Hervy ascends to CEO after serving as CUO – Specialty Lines. He brings over two decades of experience with the company, having joined in 1999 as an underwriter in HCC Global’s Financial Lines division. Since then, Hervy has held several senior leadership roles, including Managing Director of HCC Global and CUO of TMHCCI since 2014. His strategic leadership has been pivotal in shaping TMHCCI’s global underwriting and distribution operations.
Simon Button takes on the role of CUO, following his tenure as CUO – London Market. A TMHCCI veteran since 2000, Button has led various teams across the Property, Marine, and Energy sectors. In his new capacity, he will be instrumental in steering the company’s underwriting direction as it expands its product offerings and responds to emerging market demands.
These leadership transitions follow the appointment of Barry Cook, TMHCCI’s long-serving CEO, to Deputy CEO of Tokio Marine HCC. Over more than 20 years at the helm, Cook oversaw significant growth, transforming TMHCCI’s London Market operations into a $2.8 billion enterprise. In his new role, he will contribute to the broader group’s strategic initiatives.
Commenting on the appointments, Tokio Marine HCC CEO Susan Rivera stated:
“I am also delighted to announce Simon’s appointment as CUO of our International business. The risk landscape and the needs of our insureds are evolving. Key challenges, such as the global transition to more sustainable practices, also present significant business opportunities. Thibaud and Simon’s expertise will be core to the new offerings we are developing and to achieving new heights of excellence in service and innovation for our clients.”
Barry Cook added:
“I am proud to pass the baton of leadership of TMHCCI to Thibaud and Simon. I have had the pleasure of working with them for decades, and their vision and expertise continue to impress. I am certain that TMHCCI will continue to go from strength to strength under their management.”
